The question of why wet wipes are toxic, one chemical previously found in many baby wipes is formaldehyde. This is a known skin allergen. It is also known to disrupt brain development. Additionally, it has been linked to male infertility.

Another skin irritant is ethylhexylglycerin. This ingredient also acts as a surfactant. But it can also cause eye damage.

Some of the most popular baby wipes contain ingredients that may have adverse health effects. Additionally, their overpacking can lead to blockages in the sewer system.

Sodium benzoate is used as a preservative. It can be problematic when used in small amounts, but vacuum stripping can remove this material.
